Typhoon Ineng weakened further but gained speed as it moves north northeast as of 10 p.m. on August 22.

It was located 175 kilometers notheast of Basco, Batane with sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 170 kph.

Signal No. 3 was raised over the Batanes Group of Islands, Signal No. 2 over the
Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, and Signal No. 1 over Cagayan and Apayao.
