Over 1,500 rescued from 11 flooded barangay in Sablayan

Around 1,600 individuals were evacuated from 11 flooded barangays in Sablayan, as Typhoon Goring and the southwest monsoon brought heavy rainfall to the province.

Continuous rainfall had caused water levels in the villages to rise rapidly, according to the Philippine Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog.

Members of the Coast Guard Sub Station in Sablayan rescued more than 1,591 individuals or approximately 400 families from the flooded barangays in Sablayan.

Teams from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and other units, also joined in the evacuation efforts.

Among those rescued was a family of seven in Brgy. Sto. Niño, whose house was entirely submerged in floodwaters.

The family, which included a senior citizen and a baby, was safely evacuated by the Coast Guard on Monday, August 26.
