Pagasa raises storm signals over Luzon

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has issued wind signals for parts of Luzon as Super Typhoon Goring closes in on the region.

The storm, currently positioned 95 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, is traveling south southwestward at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

According to the latest bulletin as of 11 a.m. today, August 27, Goring packs maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center, with gusts reaching up to 230 km/h.

Here are the areas with typhoon signals:

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 has been hoisted over the eastern portion of Isabela, covering areas such as Divilacan, Palanan, Dinapigue, Ilagan City, and San Mariano. Residents in these areas should prepare for winds greater than 89 km/h up to 117 km/h, which are expected to hit within the next 18 hours.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 is in effect for the eastern portion of mainland Cagayan, including areas like Peñablanca, Baggao, and Tuguegarao City. The northern and central sections of Isabela and the extreme northern part of Aurora are also under this signal. Winds ranging between 62 km/h and 88 km/h can be expected in these areas within 24 hours.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, indicating winds of 39-61 km/h, has been raised for a broader swath of Luzon. This includes Batanes, the rest of Cagayan and the Babuyan Islands, the remaining parts of Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, and areas such as Apayao, Nueva Vizcaya, and the eastern portion of Ilocos Norte.
