Typhoon Ineng maintained its strength on Sunday, August 23, as it continues to move away from the Philippines, the weather bureau said.
As of 11 a.m., the typhoon was located 360 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
It had maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 170 kph.
Pagasa said Ineng was forecast to move north norheast at 17 kph. It is expected to be out of the Philippine area of responsibility, or about 720 km northeast of Basco, Batanes in the morning of August 24.
Storm Signal No. 1 was raised over the Batanes Group of Islands.
