MANILA–Smuggled cigarettes worth about P13 million to P15 million were seized in Brgy. Mangsee, Balabac in Palawan last Wednesday, the Philippine Navy said.
Approximately 830 boxes of assorted smuggled cigarettes suspected to have come from Malaysia were confiscated during the operation, it said.
Commodore Edgardo D. Tamayo, commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Naval Forces West, lauded the successful joint operation as well as the support from the local government of Balabac and its concerned citizens.
The operation was led by Major Wilfredo B. Manalang of the AFP Western Command, together with members of the Naval Forces West, Philippine National Police Maritime Group, and a representative from the local government of Brgy. Mangsee.
