A sustained low number of new Covid-19 cases is reported in Oriental Mindoro, according to a recent data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
As of the year 2023, there are a total of 49 active cases of COVID-19. Among these cases, five have been confirmed through laboratory tests.
Out of the confirmed cases, two are from Naujan town, one from Calapan City, one from Victoria town, and one from Pinamalayan town.
The majority of the cases fall under the category of asymptomatic, accounting for 34% of the total active cases. On the other hand, only five percent have been classified as severe cases.
The cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in the province has reached 12,174, with 650 deaths reported due to the virus.
While the World Health Organization has declared that COVID-19 is no longer a global health emergency, the PHO and the Department of Health (DOH) continue to urge citizens to remain cautious as the virus is still present. It is essential to adhere to health protocols to prevent its spread.
