Close to 40,000 families are poor in Occidental Mindoro

Occidental Mindoro has 39,899 poor families, according to the Third Round Household Assessment or Listahanan 3 (L3) conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Mimaropa.

The figure represents 38.8% or 102,885 households inspected by the DSWD in the province of Occidental Mindoro, which are considered poor.

The towns of San Jose, Sablayan, Santa Cruz, Abra de Ilog, and Magsaysay are among the areas with a high number of impoverished people in the province.

Listahanan is a government program that identifies the areas with high numbers of impoverished individuals.

The DSWD said Listahanan is helpful in creating programs and projects that are appropriate and equitable for all citizens.
