SSS cracks down on non-compliant employers in Pinamalayan

The Social Security System (SSS) has served written orders to seven non-compliant employers in Pinamalayan during its simultaneous conduct of the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in the town on April 27.

Imelda Familaran, head of the SSS Calapan Branch, said the team was set to serve written orders to 10 employers for remittance of contributions and non-submission of the monthly collection list in their office.

Out of the 10 employers, only seven were actually given written notice because three of them had already settled their obligations prior to the actual visit of the SSS team.

“It is the legal obligation of the employers to be compliant to SSS law as mandated by Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018,” said Familaran.

Familaran said that after the operations, SSS is expected to collect at least ₱946,144.04 worth of contribution delinquencies inclusive of penalties.

The SSS law mandates employers to register their businesses and report for coverage all of their employees, regardless of the status of their employment; deduct from the salaries of their employees’ share in the monthly contribution; pay their own share of social security contributions including employees’ compensation; and remit these regularly to the SSS through accredited payment channels.

Employers who were subjected to the operation were only given at least 15 days to respond to the written notice for settlement of their delinquencies inclusive of penalties after the operations.

During the issuance of written notice, employers were oriented by the SSS staff that affected employees can still avail themselves of SSS benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, unemployment, retirement, death and funeral, including loan privileges like salary, calamity, pension, and education loan once the contribution delinquencies are settled by the employers.

Moreover, the SSS is implementing the Contribution Penalty Condonation Program, which aims to assist business employers who were unable to pay their obligations by providing flexible payment terms for delinquency settlement and waiving their accumulated penalties after payment, has been settled.

SSS will assist business employers through the SSS Branch which has jurisdiction over their registered business address. SSS Calapan Branch can be reached through their number: 043-2882267 or by email to calapan@sss.gov.ph.
