A meeting was held in Caluya, Antique to discuss the financial assistance the fishing families affected by the Mindoro oil spill would get.
The meeting held Sunday was attended by officials from the International Oil Pollution Compensation (IOPC), Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF), P&I Club, Philippine Coast Guard, and local officials.
The participants discussed claims under the IOPC Fund at the Municipal Hall in Caluya Antique.
After the meeting, the group conducted an ocular visit to Sitio Sabang in Barangay Tinogboc, Semirara Island, where oily waste and water reached reached the shore.
The Commander of the Marine Environmental Protection Command, CG Vice Admiral Robert Patrimonio, and Commander of MEPFORCE WV, CG Cdr. Jonie Belarmino, were present during the visit. They were joined by IOPC Director Gaute Sivertsen, IOPC Claims Manager Ana Cesta, and representatives from the ITOPF and P&I Club.
