A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck off Lubang Island in the northern end of Mindoro Monday morning, state seismologists said.
The earthquake, which centered 157 kilometers northwest of the Occidental Mindoro island, was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 33 kilometers, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The offshore quake was felt at intensity III in Looc and Lubang, the two municipalities comprising Lubang Island, and intensity II in San Antonio, Zambales, and Quezon City.
Instrumental intensities were recorded at intensity I in Tagaytay City, Cavite, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, and San Antonio, Zambales.
There have been no reports of damage or casualties as of yet.
The Manila Trench and Lubang Fault are offshore earthquake generators that cause tremors close to Mindoro.
