Situation update: Calapan port clears backlog, over 1,300 vehicles leave for Batangas

A total of 1,396 vehicles have boarded Batangas-bound ferries as of 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the Public Safety Department of Calapan City reported.

The department reported that prior to boarding the roll-on roll-off ships, the cargo trucks and private vehicles formed a long queue stretching from the villages of Bayanan to Santa Isabel. However, it was not indicated whether new vehicles had arrived and formed a new queue.

Heavy inbound and outbound traffic is a common occurrence at the port of Calapan during long holiday periods, particularly because Mindoro is part of the Strong Republic Nautical Highway. This major transportation route connects the islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, making it a significant thoroughfare for travelers and cargo alike.
