Two incidents of drowning were reported in Oriental Mindoro during the Holy Week.

On Holy Thursday, a 4-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool at Tagbungan Resort in Barangay San Ignacio in Baco.

Reports indicate that the child was bathing in the kiddie swimming pool with her mother when she suddenly disappeared. The mother immediately sought help from the resort staff after noticing that her daughter was no longer floating.

Unfortunately, the girl’s body was found submerged and blocking the drainage of the swimming pool.

Despite efforts to revive her, the child was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after being submerged in the water for 30 minutes.

On Good Friday, a 21-year-old man identified as Alexis Trillana drowned in the Kambal Bato Resort also in Barangay San Ignacio.

According to Trillana’s girlfriend, he was in the pool when he was later found submerged.

Despite attempts to revive him, he was also declared dead at the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital.
