A 2.8 magnitude earthquake struck Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro on August 23, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The weak tremor occurred inland at 8:09 p.m. two kilometers northwest of Pinamalayan at a shallow depth of 21 kilometers.

There were no reported intensities and damage or injuries were not expected.
