Typhoon Ineng slightly accelerated as it continues to move north northeast on August 22, raising storm signals in 12 areas in northern Philippines, the weather bureau said.
As of 10 a.m., Ineng was located 70 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
It has sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gusts of up to 195 kph. The typhoon is forecast to move north northeast at 11 kph.
Signal No. 3 was raised over Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands.
Signal No. 2 over Northern Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte.
Signal No. 1 over the rest of Cagayan, Isabela, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Abra, and Ilocos Sur.
