Filipina lands segment on Ellen DeGeneres Show

Hollywood talk show host and actress Ellen DeGeneres has just made another Filipino famous.

After making the world pay attention to a number of talented Pinoys—including Rhap Salazar, Maria Aragon and most notably, Charice Pempengco—DeGeneres now highlights a certain Filipina simply known as Mindy.

No surnames, just Mindy.

Unlike the other Filipino talents that have appeared on her show, this Pinay doesn’t sing. She probably can’t dance either. But from the looks of it, even she’s worthy of a single-name moniker for Hollywood. And indeed, she’s already amassed her own following.

Mindy has landed a regular segment on the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” called “Mindy’s Reality Round Up.”

Via the segment, Mindy plumbs the shallow depths of American reality TV shows. Of late, she has also ventured into reviewing Hollywood films.

Mindy’s reviews often verge on the hilarious. She can’t even finish some of her sentences as she, like the rest of the audience, would often double up with laughter at her own nonsensical views.

It wasn’t explained how Mindy got the gig. Many surmise it was simply due to afterthought—one of those serendipitous moments where one happens to be at the right place at the right time.

Apparently, Mindy is still supposedly the housekeeper of DeGeneres and partner Portia de Rossi.

DeGeneres might have been thinking of something new to spice up her long-running show and in the corner of her eye, espied Mindy dusting off some furniture. Perhaps Mindy herself had been a goldmine of wisecracks that make DeGeneres and de Rossi laugh.

At the moment, requests for DeGeneres to keep Mindy’s segment in the show are on the upswing.

It all probably depends on how long the novelty will last, as segments in the show are often shuffled. While some get regurgitated, others simply vanish as quickly as they appear.
