A total of 8,000 notebooks were distributed to public elementary students in Calapan City as part of the local government’s education support program.
Mayor Doy Leachon and Vice-Mayor Jojo S. Perez led the distribution of notebooks on August 10 with elementary schools in the villages of Navotas, Maidlang, Gutad and Nag-iba II as the first set of beneficiaries, the Philippine Information Agency reported.
Aside from notebooks, the city government, through the City Education Department, also gave each public elementary school three sets of encyclopedia.
The Rotary Club of Calapan, which joined the annual activity, distributed weighing scales, digital thermometer, stethoscope and sphygmomanometer. Leachon is the incumbent president of the RCC.
Last year, the education department of Calapan, led by City Education Officer Marilyn E. Manigbas, also handed out books, computers, audio-visual equipment, tables, chairs and blackboards to schools in the city.
