A total of 1,129 senior citizens aged 77 and above are set receive their social pensions for the first quarter of 2011 this July in Palawan, the Department of Social Welfare said.

In Puerto Princesa City, 131 qualified senior citizens will receive their pensions on July 18 and 19, said DSWD Palawan field official Madelyn Cayanan.

This will be followed by the distribution of pensions outside the province’s capital. Palawan is composed of 23 towns and one city.

The DSWD Palawan Field Office said a total of 1,129 senior citizens in the province will receive their social pensions amounting to P1,500 for the first quarter.

Those from Puerto Princesa City and the towns of Brooke’s Point and Culion will receive their pensions through an ATM. For the rest of the province, beneficiaries will receive cash.
