Seventy-five villages in Oriental Mindoro will soon have their “Botika ng Barangay.”
Representative Rodolfo Valencia (1st District), in collaboration with Senator Gregorio Honasan and the Department of Health (DOH), spearheaded the village drugstores project in 75 of 262 barangay in Oriental Mindoro’s first district.
Barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) from the said villages went through basic skills training in Calapan City on June 21.
The training on how to operate the drugstores was administered by the DOH and the staff of Valencia and Honasan.
Nico P. Valencia, son of the Mindoro lawmaker and president of K4 (Kalusugan, Kinabukasan, Kabuhayan and Kalikasan) Movement, led the simple turnover rites.
In his short message, the young Valencia, who is also his father’s chief-of-staff in Congress, said that with the project the 72 barangay can now be regarded as “100 percent medicine accessible.”
The office of Congressman Valencia will also provide P2 million for the completion of facilities and equipment of the municipal and district hospitals in Pola and Puerto Galera, he added.
