MANILA—The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has warned overseas Filipino workers against illegal recruiters posing as representatives of a resort and entertainment firm in Macau.
The Galaxy Entertainment Group, which operates casinos in Macau, told the Philippine Consulate General in the administrative region of China about cases of illegal recruitment by individuals claiming to be authorized agents of the firm, the DFA said.
Galaxy reported that some illegal recruiters, using their company’s name, entice Filipinos on promise of a good job in Macau, the DFA said.
The gaming firm clarified that it has never appointed any agent, other than IKON Solutions Asia, Inc., to recruit staff in the Philippines, the foreign affairs office said.
The DFA reminded the public to always verify overseas job offers with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
