Ordinance vs women and children abuse, trafficking passed in Puerto Princesa

The City Council of Puerto Princesa City has passed an ordinance creating a local committee on anti-trafficking and violence against women and children.

The ordinance, authored by City Councilor Modesto Rodriguez II, chairman of committee on children and family relation, was passed during the 38th regular session of the council recently.

It mandates the creation of women’s desk in every barangay in Puerto Princesa City.

Its passage was in compliance with the Joint Memorandum Circular 2010-01 and 2010-02 of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Rodriguez said the new local law will greatly help abused women and children in the city.
