Palawan has emerged as champion in the recently concluded Mindoro Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan Regional Athletic Association (MIMAROPARAA) Meet 2011.
The delegation of Palawan bagged the grand prize in the elementary and high school divisions of the annual regional sports event held in Calapan City from February 12 to 18.
Puerto Princesa City came second in the same division while Oriental Mindoro grabbed the third place in elementary division and Calapan City for the secondary division.
In the elementary division, Oriental Mindoro, Calapan City, Marinduque and Romblon got the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh place, respectively.
In the secondary division, Oriental Mindoro ended up fourth, followed by Romblon, Occidental Mindoro and Marinduque.
Before the awarding ceremonies at the JJ Leido Memorial National High School, the Friendship Parade was held joined by all the athletes who for a week competed in various sports events, including archery, arnis, athletics, baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, sepak and sipa takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball and dance sports.
