Edsa Revolution anniversary a regular working day

MANILA—The 25th anniversary of the Edsa Revolution on Friday is a holiday only for the country’s schools but not for workplaces, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said Tuesday.

Proclamation No. 84 issued in December by President Benigno Aquino declared that the anniversary of the bloodless uprising that toppled the decades-old Marcos dictatorship and catapulted Corazon Aquino to power is a regular working day nationwide.

She, however, urged all sectors to share in the spirit of the historic occasion.

Baldoz noted that the President, in his proclamation, cited that “the Edsa People Power Revolution, which restored and ushered political, social and economic reforms in the country, serves as an inspiration to Filipinos everywhere as a nation and as a people.”

The public sector is also encouraged to actively participate in the activities commemorating the event with the theme, “Edsa 25: Pilipino Ako, Ako Ang Lakas ng Pagbabago.”
