Miss Oriental Mindoro 2008 1st Runner-Up Mary Sheila Aguilar Rosales is among the beauties vying for this year’s Miss Earth Philippines crown.

Rosales, 20, will walk the ramp on May 14 with other candidates in a contest that, aside from beauty, gives premium to environmental consciousness.

“Of course I’m very proud that I will be the first ever candidate from Calapan City for Miss Earth Philippines,” said the resident of Barangay San Vicente East in Calapan City.

“And at the same time, I am a little bit pressured but I will take that pressure as a challenge for me to be able to do my best,” Rosales confided. “I am starting to watch out for my diet and I am conditioning myself for the pageant.”

Rosales is a multi-titled beauty. Aside from the Miss Oriental Mindoro 2008 1st Runner-Up win, she also bagged the2nd Runner-Up title in the Miss Calapan City 2007, Miss Tourism 2007 and Miss School of Nutrition and Hospitality Management 2007 1st Runner-Up at the Centro Escolar University.

She underscores the importance of planting trees as a small but effective step in addressing the issue of climate change.

Rosales, a fourth year BS Tourism Management student at the CEU in Manila, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Nery Rosales.
