DWCC to celebrate 65th founding anniversary

The Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC), a pioneer in higher education in Oriental Mindoro, will celebrate its 65th founding year this February.

Carrying the theme “65 years of Excellence… Soaring to Greater Heights”, the celebration will be held for three days on February 21 to 23.

It will commence with the celebration of a Holy Mass. The SVD-run institution will also hold recognition rites for scholars and board passers on February 21.

On the first day, academic contests and the much-awaited Ms DWCC 2011 will also be held.

A Grand Parade is set to kick off the second day which will be followed by Field Demonstration, Exhibition Games and Fun Games.

In the afternoon of February 22, a Climate Change Forum will be hosted by the DWCC Alumni Association with Senator Loren Legarda, environmental advocate Professor Neric Acosta and Presidential Adviser on Climate Change Secretary Elisea Gozun as guest speakers.

An Alumni Night will follow, where all alumni aged 65 years and above will receive an award.

The last day of the three-day celebration will showcase the talents of Divinians in their local version of “Showtime Year 2” and “Ultimate Talent Search Year 2”.

A Grand Finale is set during the night with band blast and fireworks display.

Meanwhile, a Testimonial Dinner for all faculty and employees will be held at 6 p.m. on March 3. Its highlight will be the recognition of service awardees and former SVD administrators.

DWCC President Fr. Anthony Ibarra B. Fabella, SVD, said the celebration is a way of thanking all its administrators, faculty, employees and other stakeholders whose contribution in achieving the institution’s goal of providing quality education in the province is invaluable.
