Continuous rains destroy P752M in infra, agri, and property–NDRRMC

MANILA–Damages to infrastructure, agriculture and private property have ballooned to over P752 million  as northeast monsoon continues to prevail over northern and central Luzon, while the tail-end of a cold front still affects southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

This weather brought moderate to heavy rains causing subsequent flooding and landslides in 24 provinces of Regions IV-B, V, VII, VIII, X, XI, CARAGA and ARMM.

In its situation report no. 26 released Monday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) pegged the biggest chunk of damage to infrastructure projects at P593,337,271, while damage to agriculture is now at P158,902,188, and to private property is at P31,300.

CARAGA region is still the highest in the number affected population reported with 112,096 families or 601,804 persons, followed by Region V with 37,541 or 191,777 persons, and Region VIII with 35,463 families or 185, 675 persons.

As of this posting, the total number of affected population was at 213, 264 families or 1,120,685 persons from 1,073 affected barangays of 124 municipalities and 10 cities of 21 provinces of Regions IV-B, V, VII, VII, X, XI, CARAGA, and ARMM.

At least 33 peoples died, eight were injured, and seven were still missing.
