San Jose goes hi-tech

All local government transactions in San Jose will soon be computerized.

Mayor Jose T. Villarosa said this move aims to cut red tape and ensure transparency and efficient tax collection.

The municipal government has discussed the plan with GEO Solutions, a private corporation engaged in computer programming, he said.

Initially, Villarosa plans to computerize the systems for revenue generation, such as the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) and the Municipal Tax Collection System.

Transactions in other offices will also be computerized so taxpayers will no longer queue for long hours at the municipal hall just to process their documents.

With this, San Jose is expecting to cut its transaction and processing time by more than half.
