A student from the Sacred Heart Academy of Gloria bagged the grand prize in the regional Pop Quiz 2010 held in Puerto Princesa City.

Jed Vallar beat other students from the four other provinces comprising the Mimaropa region in the contest held at the Puerto Princesa City National High School on October 21.

Vallar brought home a trophy and a cash prize of P3,500.

He represented Oriental Mindoro in the regional contest after winning the Provincial Pop Quiz 2010 held in Pinamalayan in September.

The provincial pop quiz is annually being conducted in Oriental Mindoro by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

PSWDO Officer-in-Charge Ernanie Decena said the contest provides opportunities for students to prove their academic talent.

The provincial government shouldered all the expenses of Vallar during his trip to Puerto Princesa City, said Ethel Villaluna of the PSWDO.
