San Jose has formed its Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council (MDCC) and began stockpiling emergency relief goods.
This as the country braces for La Niña following a devastating drought this year due to the El Niño phenomenon.
Mayor Jose T. Villarosa issued Executive Order No. 4 series of 2010, which orders the formation of the MDCC in Occidental Mindoro’s most populous town.
The municipal government has coordinated with the National Food Authority (NFA) and other agencies to ensure that San Jose has enough stock of rice and other emergency relief goods.
The local government was also studying the possibility of buying rescue equipment, like rubber and flat boats.
