A 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck off Burias Island in Masbate at 2:35 a.m. Monday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
The tectonic quake hit 28 kilometers southwest of San Pascual town at a shallow depth of 13 kilometers.
It was felt at intensity 3 in San Pascual.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
