MANILA, Philippines – ABC Development Corporation, which owns TV5, has asked the Court of Appeals (CA) to stop Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 66 Presiding Judge Joselito C. Villarosa from hearing the P127-million copyright infringement case filed by rival network ABS-CBN against comedian Willie Revillame, host of primetime game show “Willing Willie,” his production outfit (WilProductions, Inc.), and TV5.
In a petition for certiorari and prohibition filed before the appellate court, TV5, through its president Ray Espinosa, asked for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Villarosa for alleged grave abuse of discretion.
Espinosa said Villarosa was wrong to deny TV5’s motion to defer proceedings on ABS-CBN’s petition for a TRO to stop the airing of “Willing Willie.”
Revillame used to host a noontime show at ASB-CBN until he broke from the network and eventually joined TV5. Read More
