Barangay Suqui of Calapan City and Barangay Cantil of Roxas were adjudged as Regional Awardees in the 2nd National Search for Barangay with Best Sanitation Practices.
In awarding rites held at the provincial capitol in Calapan City on November 30, Barangay Captain Hector Jurado of Suqui and Barangay Captain Elmer P. Salibio of Cantil each received in behalf of their villages P150,000 in cash prize and a trophy.
The two villages were chosen as winners this year in the sanitation award project of the Department of Health (DoH) for their unity and effective implementation of health and sanitation programs.
DoH-Mimaropa regional director Gloria J. Balboa congratulated the winners as she urged other villages in the region to follow the lead of Suqui and Cantil.
The two barangay captains, meanwhile, expressed elation over the honor as they vowed to carry on the program of promoting sanitary practices.
Also present in the awarding rites were DoH-Mimaropa Assistant Regional Director Dr. Faith Alberto, City Councilor Edel Ilano, Executive Assistant Dr. Marpheo Marasigan, Dr. Normando Legaspi, Dr.Liza Llanto, Dr. Leonor Daite, and Bokal Romeo Infantado.
