Veteran actress Anita Linda was named best leading actress at the 54th Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF) held in Taipei Saturday night.
The two-time FAMAS award-winning and Gawad Urian award-winning Filipino actress grabbed the title for her leading role in “Lola” of Cannes-winning director Brillante Mendoza.
“Lola” is about two elderly women who bear the consequences of a crime involving their grandsons–one is the victim, the other is the suspect.
The 86-year-old actress was also commended as a cinema icon during the 27th Miami International Film Festival in the US.
The film won the Grand Knight Award in Miami, Second Best Picture at the Venice Filmfest last year and Best Film in Dubai.
