Pinoys win 3 Gold Medals in Asian Games

Bowling, billiards and boxing won gold medals for the country in the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

Rey Saludar won the 3rd gold medal of the Philippines after beating Chang Yong of China to win the men’s 52kg category boxing gold medal.

Saludar claimed the victory with a score of 13-11. Susa Katsuaki of Japan and Mayengbam Suranjoy Singh of India shared the bronze.

Biboy Rivera nailed the first gold medal of the country in the men’s singles competition in tenpin bowling, and teammate Frederick Ong took the bronze.

The 36-year-old Rivera rolled a six-game series of 1414 to beat Mohammed A.M.A. Alrgeebah of Kuwait by 10 pinfalls at the Tianhe Bowling Hall.

In billiards, it was a 1-2 combination as Dennis Orcollo gave Team Philippines its second gold medal when he defeated compatriot Warren Kiamco, 9-7, in an all-Filipino final in the 9-ball billiards event at the Asian Games Town Gymnasium.
