Seventeen workers of the Hospital of the Holy Cross have received about P237,000 in long overdue payments, the Department of Labor in the Mimaropa region has announced.
“Out of 32 affected employees, 17 workers received what was due them in the total amount of P236, 923.74 which payment was witnessed by two DOLE representatives,” DOLE-ROIV B said in a statement.
It said the “long-due labor standard case” of Calapan-based hospital was “a result of routine inspection conducted by DOLE-Oriental Mindoro Field Office.”
The payment order of the labor department took effect on November 8.
“It is believed that this restitution will result to workers’ enhanced productivity and efficiency, translated, in the long run into improved service delivery of the hospital,” DOLE-ROIV B said.
“Checks of those employees who are no longer connected with the said hospital are now in the custody of the department which will be released to the person or any authorized representative upon claim and proper documentation,” it said.
