Nora Aunor has made the Philippines very proud once again when she was officially named one of the Ten Best Asian Actresses of the Decade at the 2010 Green Planet Movie Awards.
Dubbed the “Superstar” in the Philippines, she personally received the award at ceremonies held at the posh Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
David R. Bracey, organizing Committee Vice-Chair of the 2010 Green Planet Movie Awards said “Ms. Aunor was selected by movie viewers and online voters from over 100 countries!”
It was indeed a feat for the enormously talented actress-singer since the organizers initially included her in a shortlist of 30 of the finest female acting stalwarts in the Asia Pacific region vying for a spot in the elite list. Other renowned Asian actresses who were in contention were Maggie Cheung and Gong Li.
The Green Planet Movie Awards is organized by the Aneheim University Akira Kurosawa School of Film and the Academia Foundation.
Among Nora’s highly impressive body of work are the movies Himala, Bona, Bakit May Kahapon Pa, The Flor Contemplacion Story and Naglalayag which all made waves in the global entertainment scene. The last three even won for her international Best Actress statuettes.
