Over 74,000 get universal health insurance in Oriental Mindoro

Oriental Mindoro has exceeded its 73,000 target number of enrollees in the province-wide PhilHealth program.

Virginia Abao, Social Health Insurance chief officer of PhilHealth Oriental Mindoro Service Office, said a total of 74,072 residents have been covered by the provincial government’s PhilHealth Universal program as of December last year.

And since a PhilHealth card also covers dependents of its holder, Abao said the total beneficiaries could reach as high as 370,360 people in the province, where health care is among the priority programs of Governor Arnan Panaligan.

  1. Governor Panaligan needs to be lauded for his focus on the health care of Oriental Mindorenos. As it is said, with out one’s health , every thing else is gone.

This emphasis on people’s health may have a multiplier effect not only on the well being of Mindorenos but also on the health care industry, its infrastructure , the care givers and even retirees deciding where they will spend their golden years.
