<font color=”#22518D”><strong>It will be a special holiday in all schools on Monday, February 22, as the country commemorates the 24th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.</strong></font>
February 22, or the Monday nearest February 25, is declared a special holiday to serve as an “inspiration to all Filipinos everywhere as we continue to chart our collective course as a nation and as a people,” according Proclamation No. 1841 signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in July last year.
The proclamation declares the regular holidays, special (non-working) days, and special holidays (for all schools) for the year 2010.
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 9492, all holidays except those which are religious in nature, are moved to the nearest Monday unless modified by law, order or proclamation.
The Philippines yearly celebrates the February 25, 1986 People Power Revolution which ended the 20-year dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.
