CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna–A police official was ordered relieved after he and a rookie cop engaged in a brawl with four foreigners and a Filipino inside a videoke bar in Puerto Galera, a top provincial police official said on Sunday.

Supt. James Brillantes, police chief of Puerto Galera, and PO1 Hermero Ondevilla were immediately relieved from their posts following their alleged involvement in a scuffle, which resulted in the wounding of American John Grhim, 45; Koreans Kim Myung Hoon, 38 and Hoseung Kim, 34; Australian Paul Andrew Jones, 57; and Filipino Ruel Sotto, 28, said Senior Supt. Sonny Ricablanca, Mindoro police director.

Ricablanca said the two policemen were attending the opening of Hammer Head Broadway KTV Bar in Barangay Sabang at around 11 p.m. Friday when one of the foreigners allegedly grabbed Ondevilla’s service firearm.

As the two were grappling, Brillantes intervened and fired a shot. Grhim and Jones sustained bullet wounds in their feet while Hoon and Sotto were hit in the thigh. Kim was slightly wounded by broken glass. FULL STORY
