The National Bureau of Investigation has filed murder charges against a policeman suspected of killing former Occidental Mindoro vice-governor Crispin Perez Jr. in 2009.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) recommended no bail for PO2 Darwin Quimoyog, tagged by Irene Perez as the one who shot dead her husband at the doorsteps of their residence along M.H. Del Pilar St. in San Jose.

The indictment of Quimoyog was based on an October 2009 DOJ resolution signed by State Prosecutor Lamberto Fabros and Assistant Chief State Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon and approved by Chief State Prosecutor Jovencito Zuño.

Quimoyog, who was in custody of the Mimaropa Police Regional Office at Camp Efigenio Navarro in Calapan City, was arrested Tuesday and brought to Magbay Provincial Jail in San Jose, Mrs. Perez said in a radio interview on radio DZVT.

In her affidavit, Mrs. Perez said that her husband, who was also a lawyer and radio commentator, had just arrived home from his daily morning program Sa Totoo Lang over the local DWDO radio station when Quimoyog came on June 9 last year.

The two had a meeting that lasted for about 25 minutes, she said, adding that when her husband led the leaving Quimoyog to the door, the policeman suddenly drew his gun and shot Perez.

The former vice governor, a staunch ally of Governor Josephine Ramirez-Sato, was rushed to the St. Magdalene Hospital in San Jose but was declared dead on arrival.

The case was raffled off Tuesday to San Jose Regional Trial Court Judge Jose Jacinto, who issued an arrest warrant that same day against Quimoyog for violating Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code, Mrs. Perez told DZVT.

Earlier, an administrative case was filed against Quimoyog before the National Police Commission. It was dropped for lack of merit.

Perez also served as provincial president of the Federation of Free Farmers in Occidental Mindoro.
